Terms of Use

1. Service

BookReader is a browser/PWA reader for EPUB and image archives. Features include local storage, Google Drive loading, position/bookmark sync, catalogs and web-novel retrieval. Availability depends on the released version, device, browser, network and external providers.

2. Accounts and environment

Use accounts and permissions you are entitled to use for Google sign-in and Drive. Protect your account and device credentials. Minors must obtain guardian consent where required by applicable law.

You are responsible for network costs, device storage and external service charges. Some local reading features do not require sign-in.

3. Content rights

Use content you are entitled to read, save or retrieve. The app does not grant permission from copyright holders or content providers. Respect third-party rights and source-site terms.

Content rights remain with their owners. Necessary reading and sync processing does not grant the operator a right to sell, publish or reuse your books. The app does not provide DRM removal or bypass access restrictions.

4. Prohibited conduct

Do not violate laws or copyright/privacy rights, misuse accounts, gain unauthorized access, bypass authentication or service restrictions, send malware, overload the service or source sites, or access other users’ data without permission.

The operator may restrict an account or feature to the extent necessary where there are reasonable grounds to suspect abuse or violations. Reasons and a contact method are provided where doing so does not compromise security.

5. Storage, sync and backups

Local information may be lost due to clearing site data, browser changes, device failure or storage pressure. Sync does not back up book files. Keep original books and needed records separately.

Book editions, content, screen layouts, concurrent device use and provider conditions may affect positions, page counts and sync results. Catalog purchase/loan/return records do not prove an external subscription or entitlement.

6. External services

Google Drive, Google/Firebase, Cloudflare, source sites and sharing apps have their own terms. Authentication/API changes, outages or revoked permissions may affect features.

Trademarks belong to their owners. BookReader is not an official Google or book-provider product or a statement of endorsement by those providers.

7. Privacy and sharing

Information handling is described in the Privacy Policy. Sign out after using a shared device and consider books and records left locally. Check contents, destinations and visibility before exporting or sharing.

8. Changes, interruption and termination

Features may change, pause or end for improvements, maintenance, security or provider changes. Planned material changes or termination are announced in the app or public site in advance where possible. Emergencies may prevent advance notice.

9. Operation and responsibility

The operator does not guarantee compatibility with every book, device or browser, continuous availability, or perfect sync and restoration. Contact support with your environment and symptoms if problems occur.

Liability follows applicable law. These terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights or exclude liability for the operator’s intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

10. Amendments and governing law

Changes, their application date and required notices are provided on this page or in the app under applicable law. Consent is obtained where required for material changes affecting rights or information use.

These terms are governed by Japanese law without limiting mandatory protections applicable to you. We first seek to resolve disputes through the contact below; unresolved jurisdiction follows applicable law. The Japanese text is the reference for this English translation, without overriding mandatory protections.
